Dinner at Nathalie's

It's my first post for the year and I am "raging" to write this, as the dinner at Nathalie's was really good!
It's been a while now since I have gone to any restaurants that I say I would definitely re-visit and today I say, Nathalie's is definitely worth to go again!
We ordered :
1. Nathalie's Selection
2. Tradition Menu
Both comprises a full course dinner for one person and we added on:
1.  Stuffed Piquillos for the Main
2. Chestnut and Pineapple Tiramisu for Dessert
3. Creme Brulee for Dessert

Cuisine Gourmet by Nathalie

Three finger food which came with the set - This will be like the selection for the day, 3 types of finger food. Ours was Smoked Salmon, the little cup is some Prawn Essence (really rich) and Mussels. Since we ordered only 2 sets, we were given a third set on the house!

The French are always good with this... served hot with a generous helping of butter

Blue Lobster Ravioli

Foie Gras Terrine with Marinated Tuna

hicccc :)
This was what we had..... Cupid's HAHA
Mains : Stuffed Piquillos

Beef Tenderloin Rossini Way - YUMMMM!

Slow Cooked Lamb Shank - Absolutely tender... but taste wise, its no "wow" - the usual

Happy Dessert - When I saw this, I thought it was no big deal but it was really a GOOD end. This came with the set Red Fruits Vacherin

Nathalie's variation to Tiramisu

Coffee Creme Brulee with Whisky Granite :)

Bourdalou Tart with Home Made Vanilla Ice Cream

Macarons, Mint and Choc, Grapefruit (with the fruit freshness taste) and Caramel (rich and yummy)
Absolutely MUST try!

Going Italian with buddies @ Marini's on 57

Thank you for the birthday treat.
(Yeah, my birthday celebrations start early......its tough to coordinate 3 persons calendar)

So here's my verdict of Marini's - not quite worth the $
The atmosphere was good (except for the constant flash lights), service was not that great and as for food, I believe that there are better places to go.

Here's a run up of what we tried:

Pan Seared Foie Gras with Caramelised Apple (The usual dish)

120 days Black Angus Beef - Somehow its pretty bland and no beefy taste! (Normally Black Angus has a nice beefy taste to it - which is what I like)

Lamb Shank - The sauce was not sufficient but Potato Truffles was not bad
Tagliolini (Home made) with fresh crab (cream sauce) - I thought the texture of the pasta was a bit too soft....

Cooked Cream with Vanilla - I have to try something vanilla :) but this did not turn out too well.

This was a interesting dessert - the Marini's Picolezze - Tiramisu on Almond Crust, Baba Au Rum (little cupcakes infused with rum), Creme Brulee and Macaroons - Actually more "French" than "Italian"

An evening out with buddies @ La Vie En Rose

12 years of buddy-ship - not easy to come by!

We wine and dine 3 times a year, to celebrate our 3 birthdays.... but we have countless phone calls amidst all our busy schedules.... Happy birthday, Denise :)

Bulot (similar to Escargot) - Served with Home Made Garlic Mayo (Yummy)
Beef Tartare - Raw beef (seasoned) served with bread and cheese (Should try!)

Interesting combination Foie Gras with Creme Brulee (both of which I like, but this is the first time its "blended" together)

Duck confit - always good

Beef cheeks! (I din know beef cheeks were so meaty!) - Very filling, best shared with at least 4 pax

Mushroom truffle (served with the beef cheeks) - by my standard "not rich enough"

Veal with Licorice (I deglazed the plate!!)

Desserts - Mousse (it would have been perfect if it was slightly bigger - it was good, hence, not enough!)

Desserts - Apple Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream (I personally think BR Vanilla Ice Cream was better - maybe I am a critic when it comes to anything Vanilla)
La Vie En Rose has a refined "unfinished" look and overall an interesting experience.
The restaurant (manager I suppose) - was always checking, making sure that we were all "okay"
Service was acceptable (the only slack was that we had to ask the waiters to change our plates - which I thought they should be more attentive at such places)
