Good Food in Malaysia

The following is purely based on my recommendations to Malaysian food.... It will be a "work in progress" post as I find the time and the chance to try out all sorts of food that we have! Prices are at the time of posting.

Kuala Lumpur

Prawn Wanton - Medan Selera 118 Jalan Kuchai Lama (opposite FGA) Stall 55
Absolutely fresh and delicious. Nice helping of vegetables too....RM 6 per bowl

Yong Tau Foo - Corner of Jalan Kenanga and Jalan San Peng
They don't have a huge variety but what is available is really good! RM 1.10 per piece

Bubur Cha Cha in shaved ice - corner of Jalan Kenanga and Jalan San Peng
(Have you tried it before? Bubur Cha Cha is normally served hot, so not many will appreciate this!)
The shaved ice is really fine with generous helping of sugar and coconut milk.....RM 2.60 per bowl

Beef Ball - Jalan Peel
You can always try the Beef Noodles also but I like just the beef balls - RM 7 per bowl with hot steamy soup

Char Kuey Teow - Sunway Ming Tien (Same row as Maybank Sunway / One Academy)
Trust me, coming from one who eats a lot of Char Kuey Teow, this is one of the best I have eaten in KL - RM 4.50 per plate

Lenggong

Small town off the road from Kuala Kangsar to Grik
Restoran Makanan Laut Sin Hup Yik (There are two shops I usually go to the first one as you approach the shops) Famous for fish dishes.... fish ball costs RM 0.60 each and "Yue Lam" (Fish Tummy) - forgot the cost of this dish though

Bukit Tinggi
Restoran Bukit Tinggi BBQ (behind BHP petrol) - not visible from the mainroad
The seafood pot is excellent - costs RM 75 per pot. It is steamed and the nutrients are collected in the bottom pot where at the end of the meal, it will be cooked with some vegetables and served as a soup.
Note : This same restaurant sells good BBQ lamb which I did not order the last time I was there (hence there is no pictures for the lamb)

Penang
Penang Kuey Teow Thng - Lebuh Clarke - in a small lane parallel to Argyll Road.
The stall faces Caltex Station on Argyll Road - RM 4.50 per bowl

Penang Asam Laksa & ABC/Cendol - Off Penang Road / Chowrasta Market
This asam laksa is "light" and not as thick as the one at Air Itam Market

ABC is RM 2.50 and Cendol is RM 2.30 (if you sit in the coffee shop) If you eat by the roadside its less 30cents

Penang Char Kuey Teow - Jalan Chor Sin Keng (Air Itam) 012-498 3962
RM 6.50 with duck egg

Penang Mee Goreng - Next to Pulau Tikus Police Station - RM 5 per plate
For those of you who are not from Penang, trust me, you have to try this as you cannot get this type of Mee Goreng anywhere else in Malaysia.

Coconut Ice Cream - RM 2.50 at Sleeping Buddha (Pulau Tikus)
I have eaten this since I was young!

Tangkak Beef Noodles - RM 6 per bowl
Restaurant Kuang Fei - 20, Jalan Solok, 84900, Tangkak Johor.

Serendah
Thai Food (no restaurant name) - You won't be able to find this place on your own!
The 2 dishes that must not miss.... Tom Yum soup (just the soup is RM 12) or it can be served with noodles at RM 4.50.
The fried chicken is a MUST try too!
