Lata Bomoh Ali and Lata Berembun (Nyur) - Gunung Nuang

How to get there :

Travel time : 45 mins from Bukit Jalil

Head on to MRR2 and exit to Taman Connaught/Cheras. Once you turn left after the exit, turn right at the next traffic lights.

This will take you pass Giant/McD on the right and BHP on the left.

After BHP keep right and follow the road (there are 3 forks, go on the right fork)

The road will curve to the left where you will see a Petronas, just go straight until the tol.

After tol take the first left exit and follow the road and look out for road signs to Hutan Lipur Gunung Nuang

There will be a left turn to take at a traffic lights (right side is a police block)

Just follow this road until the end and take the right fork, follow the road until the end and turn left

There are car parks on the left and right side of the road

At the base :

Proper shower and toilet facilities available for use

Trekking time and terrain :

On moderate speed with some photography - 1 hour 30 mins

Terrain rating 3/10

Description of terrain :

Fairly flat with some gentle slopes

Various river crossings with forks along the way (better to go with someone who knows the way)

At the waterfall :

Lata Bomoh Ali - Deep enough to have dives

Lata Berembun (Nyur) - Chest deep pool with slide to play. Good reflexology too!

The trail into this waterfall is absolutely breathtaking where one can see beautiful rays of sun all along the way. The trek in is serene with nice scenery. A trek that will make everyone fall in love with nature :) 

An outing in Endau Rompin (Selai)

Date : 18 & 19 June 2011

47 participants from KL/Pen/Johor came for this trip. (+11 from Faye's group but we did not trek together)
Most of us started our journey by 4am, some as early as 3.30am and those from Pen, drove to KL after work on Friday night. What a journey for the Penangites.

Our meeting place was at Yong Peng Utara exit at 7am. Our target is to arrive at the National Park office by 8am which we did. As registrations has already been made and 4WD arranged beforehand, it was smooth sailing. (RM 200 per 4WD)
To get to the National Park:
1. Exit Yong Peng Utara tol
2. At the traffic lights, turn left
3. Go straight until the next traffic lights turn left again to Segamat/Labis
4. Drive straight on (past Empangan Bekok, past Chaah town (never heard of this town before this)) This is a long straight road drive (about 15 mins or so)
5. Turn right at the road sign "Sg Bantang Air Terjun, Bekok" - this will lead you into Bekok town
6. Follow the road until a bend to the right into Jalan MCA
7. At the junction turn left and on the left there is a row of shophouse and one of it, Pejabat Taman Negara Endau Rompin - This is where you can park your cars and take the 4WD from this point on

The drive from the Park office into the campsite is about an hour, 26km long. The 4WD drops you right at the campsite so there is no strenuous carrying at all.

A very large campsite is available at RM 5 per person. The campsite can easily accomodate 200 people, I think. There is also a kitchen area for rent if you wish to use. For those without camping gears, jungle huts are also available at RM 60 per hut which can sleep 3 comfortably. They provide mattress and fan.

Trekking time and terrain :

Takah Tinggi on Day 1

- 2 hours easy walk (but it was a very hot day for us, no wind - it may be the nature of this forest)

- Water is not clear (brownish)

- Not allowed to swim

Takah Berangin on Day 2

- 1.5 hours walk with a steep incline of about 30 minutes (can be a challenge for non trekkers)

- Shallow pool but nice place for jacuzzi / reflexology

Takah Pandan on Day 2

- 30 mins from Takah Berangin

- Vertical tall fall - majestic (Watch how the water flows down on the rock surface)

- Small pool, about 7 feet in depth

Takah Selow on Day 2

- On the way out we pass by Takah Selow (3 falls)

Naning Waterfalls - Upper and Lower

Naning again!

This time the attraction is for the 200feet 5 teirs lower fall..... how could we go past the tall fall without going to it right? Thank you Harry for the recce.... I love this fall but I do not like the never ending road walk! But, we were extremely blessed today as we managed to hitch a ride in and out! It was indeed a day to count our blessings! Very thankful for the guys there who took us in and out...... we were indeed blessed!

How to get there :

Gombak tol RM 5 - travel along the Karak Highway and exit at Bentong (first Bentong exit after the tol, Exit 808)

At the junction turn right, travel along the road until another junction. Turn left

Road signs available - follow the signboard which says "Air Terjun Chamang"

Travel time to Chamang from KL 1 hour 45 mins

At the base :

Trekking time and terrain :

On moderate speed with some photography - 7 hours of trekking + 2 hours at the waterfall = 9 hours

Terrain rating 5/10 (terrain fairly flat with some gentle slopes but long trek, 8km walk one way)

Description of terrain : 

Start behind the washroom, steep incline of about 50 degrees for about 8 minutes. 

Then you will come to a clearing which is a private road, not accessible by public - this "never ending road" is about an hour walk - 95% flat, some gentle slopes

You will then come to what I call the "Chocolate Hill of Malaysia" (the mini sized version compared to Philippines)

From here, take a left path into the jungles - the terrain is flat with 2 small + 1 big river (may get wet) (Many places to cross the river - I managed to cross it and kept myself dry with Eddie's help :))

After crossing the big river, just follow the path until you come to a steep incline of about 45 degrees for about 10 minutes.

After this you will be walking on the ridge, will pass by a tall waterfall on the left (which is Lower Naning - 200ft tall) - just continue on about 10 minutes you will come to the top of another waterfall, the Upper Naning.The paths are clearly marked.
We took a break here, had our lunch and played around for a while at the falls.
After that we back trekked to the point just before the incline (if you are heading to Upper Naning) and river trekked.
This will take you to Lower Naning, 5 teirs, 200ft tall.

  

At the upper fall :

To view the entire waterfall one will need to go down the rocks from the sides of the fall. Becareful as it may be slippery especially if its been raining. Best to attempt without shoes.

The fall is about 60/70 feet tall 

At the lower fall :

Spectacular view of a 200feet tall fall. One can attempt to scale up the rocks to Teir 3..... beyond that we did not venture. Along the way there are some deep pools to dive in!
